52: Is it possible to give advice without a personal agenda?

Who do you go to for advice?  Do you stop and ask yourself what their agenda might be?  Do they have any gain in what they are advising you to do?  This is a big reason why I encourage people to have a mentor or coach.  It is nearly impossible for someone IN your life to give you advice without it going through a filter of their own personal gain.  A coach or mentor should have only one agenda, and that is helping you to find what is in YOUR best interest, not what’s in the best interest of others, whose opinions may not be aligned with where you are headed.  And when it comes to advice… this is a two way street.  This weeks challenge is to not only be mindful of the advice we are receiving, but also in the advice that we are handing out.  Be very clear about the advice you give, and be very honest about how much of that advice serves you, versus how much is truly selflessly serving them.
