What does it take to finally “jump”? For someone to truly take that leap of faith, and trust that the unknown will work out, takes a great deal of risk tolerance. This is what I have been writing and podcasting about over the last couple of weeks. Are some people hard wired for risk-taking? Can you, over time, develop enough self-confidence to take that leap, or did you need to be born with an entrepreneurial spirit to begin with?
Every person reading this who has a dream they have put aside, has likely done so because the risk of pursuing their dream is greater than the potential reward, if they achieve it. This blog is not intended for the people who have confidence beyond measure, and throw caution into the wind at every turn. (Although I will be speaking to you at the end.) This is for those whose life is not what they had envisioned. Those who have lost themselves little by little over time; to the degree that very few things feel fulfilling, let alone exciting.
So for those of you who fall into that category, here’s my advice: Pay attention to the things that show up in your life, that either make your life easier or more difficult. And understand this is for a reason. Guidance shows up all the time. Whether or not you are paying attention is another thing altogether. My guest today, Jodi Flynn, had life help her make the decision that several times, she was unwilling to make for herself. Think about the people who were “let go” from their jobs—Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, Michael Bloomberg, and Thomas Edison, just to name a few—who went on to achieve amazing success. Jodi is no different.
Now you can wait for that day for the Universe to take the upper hand, or you can stop right now and ask yourself if you are truly living the life you had imagined. What it will take for you to believe in yourself enough to go after it, no matter what? For my friends who are doing just that… be the inspiration to anyone around you who could use the encouragement, the support, and the mentorship in order to get there. There simply will not be a better day for you to start to live the life you were meant to live. I think you will find this episode inspiring and hopefully pushing you to believe in yourself a little bit more.
