Hello and Namaste,

(You should have expected that coming from a Meditation school in India.)

With a few days left here, before I am off to my next stop in London (more on that later), I am well overdue with an update on what my time has been like here at One World Academy, in India. I recently finished their program on The Field of Transformation, and am now about half-way through their Meditation Instructor Training.  I also posted a podcast with an attempt at a summary, and I will do one more before I leave.

Let me say one more thing… this story you are about to read, highlights just one of the deeper understandings I have gained during my time here.  (And there truly have been many.)

As I tell you about one of my lightbulb moments, oddly I am going to do this by summarizing a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie that I watched on my laptop last night, about an Inn in Vermont.  I am sure you are thinking it seems crazy to watch a Christmas movie in January, while in India.  But I have an insane love for Vermont (for no apparent reason) so I was compelled to watch it. Alright here we go:

There is this Inn that is haunted, and a gal was sent there to sell it.  You can imagine the plights of selling a haunted mansion from the get go.  Let’s move the relevance.  This guy was murdered in front of this Inn a hundred years ago, on his way back to meeting the love of his life who he sees has fallen for another man.  As he sees this, he’s hit on the head, and it’s game over.  So of course the question is, what will it take for him to have his soul freed in order to move on?  As the story unfolds, he finds out who his assailant was, and that what he saw with his girlfriend wasn’t accurate.  At this point, one might think the reason he was stuck there was to figure out the truth of his fate.  But even when he did, he was still there.  It was only until he discovered HIS truth that everything changed.

When we hold anger, vengeance, jealousy, feelings of betrayal, hopelessness, and loss as a state of being, we truly become prisoners.  Even if our story is worthy of Hallmark movie, in its justification for why we feel the way we do, it doesn’t change a thing about what is happening right now.  As long as we stay in a state that is focused on events of the past, feelings of the past, or worries about the future, we lose our ability to not only think clearly and rationally, but we also lose our ability to connect with others, as well as ourselves.  From this point we are living in a prison, and a very limited life, with little possibility of a compelling future.

In the end, the “ghost” in the Inn realized HIS truth, and forgave the man who killed him, understood the actions of his girlfriend, and that his quick judgement was not about her, it was purely centered around him.  In that moment, everything changed.  You see, once we acknowledge our truth that the only thought worth reflecting upon is one that concerns OUR state of being, and has nothing to do with anyone else, we can truly be free. The beautiful thing is, we all have that opportunity at any moment. When we recognize and acknowledge our truth, we can let go of the chains that bind us to old emotions and old stories, and free us to live in the present and connect in a deeper way than we ever thought possible.

If you have the chance to take a course at One World Academy, whether that’s here in India or any place they are offering courses around the world, I highly encourage you to do so.  They are offering a course on living in a Beautiful State (of being, not Vermont) in Miami the first week of March.  You can check it out here:

In closing, consider how you feel right now.  Is that feeling tied to a story from the past, or some worry about the future?  If so, now may the time to release those ghosts, and start living from a state of being where you feel true inner peace, right now.  The reality is some of us may be stuck as ghosts for hundreds of years after we die, because we can’t let go of the chains that bind us.  However what is far worse than that, is being a ghost in your own life while you are living.

This choice of a state of being is a choice we all have. Choose your state wisely, it will determine the outcome of every decision you make, every relationship you have, and what is possible in THIS  lifetime.
